Worried

I am worried sick over Ethan's ongoing issues with reflux.  Thank god he has an appointment with a specialist on Monday.  Hopefully we can get some answers and an update on what his vocal chords look like.  Last we knew, the ear, nose, and throat doctor said that Ethan should be on Reglan, which we decided against after we talked it over with our pediatrician back in MS.  The side effects can be severe so we chose against it and I am scared that the gastroenterologist will say that Ethan needs to be on it.  His cough is so bad right now and no one seems to understand what I'm talking about when I say "no he is not sick, the cough is from his reflux."  I get so tired of trying to explain what is going on with him and honestly, I don't really know exactly how the reflux caused the croup that landed him in the hospital and I don't really know exactly how the cough factors into the reflux.  I also don't understand why he isn't in obvious pain because most people agree that reflux is miserable.  I'm going to sit with the gastroenterologist until I feel comfortable because doctors tend to rush from patient to patient.  I am not going to put up with that this time!  I am so frustrated right now because Ethan has been coughing all night and it sounds so 'chunky'.  Sounds gross, but that is the best way to describe it.  Poor baby.

  1. I'm sorry you and Ethan have to deal with this. Just remember, if the doc does prescribe Reglan and you're not comfortable with that, you absolutely have the right to choose what you want for Ethan. Ask about alternative treatments, second, third, or fourth opinions, more testing, whatever you think needs to happen. I love you- keep me updated! *hug*
